UA High School Honor Choir

Greetings from the University of Arizona Choral Department! We are thrilled to present an exciting opportunity for you and your students this coming Fall semester.

The UA High School Honor Choir once again will be offered for your finest students, especially those interested in pursuing careers in music.

Students will be admitted by audition to participate in honor choir activities, from 8:00 am on October 20 through 4:00 pm on October 21, 2023 on the UA campus.

The choir will be evenly balanced in each section and conducted by Dr. M. Nicole Davis, Associate Director of Choral Activities.

Participating students and directors will have a variety of valuable experiences during their time in Tucson. In addition to rehearsing, students will be able to attend a course taught by a UA faculty member, socialize with the other choir members, and sing with University Singers, conducted by Dr. Davis.

Directors will have a chance to network, attend rehearsals, participate in educational sessions, receive professional development hours, and rehearse and perform with Symphonic Choir, conducted by Dr. Elizabeth Schauer.

The weekend will conclude with the Honor Choir Festival Concert on October 21 at 2:00 pm, featuring the Honor Choir, Symphonic Choir, University Singers and distinguished soloists selected from the honor choir audition process, as well as from UA.

  2. Sight-read all melodic and rhythmic examples. This should be unprepared sight-reading.
  3. Sing back all intervals from the aural recall sheet. The piano plays one at a time then voice responds on whatever syllable is most comfortable (students do not see interval sheet).

These can be done in any order you wish. If you have any questions, please call (410) 274-1764, or email Jordan Shomper.
