Clay Whittington

Clay Whittington is a second-year MMus student in Choral Conducting at the University of Arizona. He serves as Director of Music Ministries at Immanuel Presbyterian Church, leading the sanctuary choir, handbell choir, and alternative worship ensembles. He also works as a pianist and vocalist for The Gaslight Theatre while maintaining an active performance calendar which has included work with Pebble Beach Resorts, Fairmont Hotels, and Carnival Cruise Line.

For over 20 years, Clay has served as principal musician in United Methodist, Episcopal, and Presbyterian (PCUSA) congregations in North Carolina, California, and Arizona. Many of these appointments have included leadership in regional and national conventions and conferences.

Clay received his Bachelor of Music magna cum laude in Sacred Music from East Carolina University (Greenville, NC), where he was also inducted into the Beta Zeta chapter of the society of Pi Kappa Lambda. He also received his Associate in Fine Arts in Music from Lenoir Community College (Kinston, NC).

Clay is an active member of the American Choral Directors Association, the American Guild of Organists, the National Association of Teachers of Singing, and the Presbyterian Association of Musicians.
