Chad E. Pittman is a full-time musician — conductor, educator and organist — who believes in the amazing transformational power of music. He is currently a DMA student in Choral Conducting at The University of Arizona.
Active as a guest conductor and clinician, he served as Director of Choral Activities and Associate Professor of Music at Yavapai College (AZ). In 2025, Chad will be a featured guest conductor at Carnegie Hall with Midamerica Productions, where he will lead the festival choir and professional soloists/instrumentalists in Bruckner’s F Minor Mass.
Mr. Pittman taught secondary choral music in schools for nearly a decade. His groups consistently earned top ratings/placements at adjudications/competitions/festivals, and were frequently called upon to collaborate with professional organizations and artists/ensembles. Highlights include appearances with Roomful of Teeth, Chanticleer, University of Michigan Men’s Glee Club, Ohio State University Mens and Women’s Glee Clubs, Capital University Chapel Choir, and a 2020 appearance at Carnegie Hall. Pittman holds the record — twice — for most performing ensembles invited to perform at a state music convention in Ohio: three choirs in 2019 and four in 2021. His ensembles were invited to perform for the Ohio Music Education Association in 2017, 2019, 2021 and the Ohio Choral Director’s Association in 2015. Passionate about community, communication, and personal growth/development in the choral classroom, Pittman’s students have been accepted to major conservatories and schools of music across the country, citing their experience in a rigorous yet nurturing choral environment as paramount to their success.
An active church musician and performer, Chad Pittman has served in church music for over fifteen years, appointed to his first position at age eleven. Most recently, he served as Director of Music and Organist for St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Massillon (OH), where he led the ensembles, facilitated a weekly program of guest artists in worship, and founded/coordinated Cathedral Concerts in the Evening, the church’s new professional concert series.
Chad is co-founder of Two Men and a Bench — a traveling organ duo — with duet partner Mark Thewes. Since 2013, the two have presented concerts in churches and concert halls across the country, including a featured appearance at the Washington National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. He is also active in the Paderewski Duo, a collaboration with violinist, Wanda Sobieska. He was the Director of Choruses for the Canton (OH) Symphony Orchestra, where he prepared the choirs for major work performances, and other regular and outreach concerts.
Chad holds the Master of Music in Choral Conducting from Michigan State University, a Master of Educational Administration from Cleveland State University, and a Bachelor of Music Education and Organ from the Baldwin Wallace University Conservatory of Music. He is passionate about researching social – emotional and cooperative learning strategies and their positive impact in all choral settings.
When not making music and collaborating with amazing folks, Chad Pittman enjoys traveling and partaking in great food/drink as an excited and curious “foodie.” An animal lover, he frequently volunteers at local shelters/rescues and enjoys spending time with his cats and faithful/rambunctious Chiweenie (Chihuahua/Dachshund), Hank!
